Murad Jamil
Chief Executive & Principal Architect
Murad Jamil stands tall under the weight of his 30 years of experience in Architecture and design and comes forward with MJA as a Founder, Chief Executive and Principal Architect. With his profound insights in space design, site planning, space utilization and interior design gathered over the course of his career, he developed a keen understanding of modern architectural challenges and how to cope with them.

With the names of giant industry players under his client’s list, he has a lifetime of achievements honoured with multiple corporate positions and social roles. His work is deeply rooted in the traditional values of architecture, seasoned with the modern trends in design and customized to his client’s needs.

Hailing from a creative background, Murad Jamil reflected his artistic interests early on. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Dawood College of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, in 1985 and went to the University of California, Los Angeles, to earn his Master of Architecture degree in 1991. He joined the Bechtel Corporation in Los Angeles, the highlight of which was the ‘Euro Disney’ project with the ‘Walt Disney Imagineering’ in Los Angeles, California.

After this immensely valuable experience at the beginning of his career, he returned to Pakistan in 1993 and joined the architecture practice of the renowned Naqvi & Siddique in Islamabad. In only 5 years, he gained enough insight into Pakistan’s Architecture and construction industry to start a venture of his own. Thus, MJA was founded in 1998 in Islamabad.

Founding MJA was only a start, leading to a cascade of accomplishments. It was under MJA that he could earn a position as the Chairman of the Board of Architectural Education, Institute of Architects Pakistan, from 2012 to 2015.

Currently, he is serving as a member of the Board of Studies of two architecture schools in Pakistan. He is a Trustee of ‘The KBA Centre for Architecture Research & Education.’ He is also a Co-Founder with architect Yasmeen Lari ‘ADMAN’ (Architects Disaster Management Network).

After his corporate achievements, adding his social responsibilities to the view, he also opted to be on the Board of Governors of two NGOs, ‘Mashal Association’ and ‘Trust for Rural Uplift & Community Education.’ He is also the Founding Member of the ‘International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism’ (Pakistan Chapter).

Paying tribute to his late father, the poet-writer Jamiluddin Aali, Murad Jamil produced a biopic, ‘Khwab ka Safar’ (Journey of a Dream). The documentary captures his father’s life, achievements and undying belief in the vast potential of Pakistan and its people. Murad Jamil remains forever grateful to his father for inculcating in him hope, aspiration and love for Pakistan. He aims to take on his father’s legacy and urge the Pakistani youth to explore its potential and take the name of our country forward.
